"I hope to help people reinforce their values and live them"

I believe that people are not problems, problems are problems. I help people and families to define themselves not by the circumstances affecting them but by what is important to them. I will work with you to explore the moments that have shaped your life, the turning-points, and the key relationships. This work will help draw focus to your intentions, dreams, and values that have guided you through life, despite setbacks.

This approach is called Narrative Therapy. Through this process we discover surprising, often overlooked, stories that speak of forgotten competence and heroism. By holding close what is important to you and remembering how you have overcome past problems we can empower you to face the problems of today.

For the past nine years I have passionately worked with individuals, couples, and families struggling with a variety of mental health concerns including parenting, depression, anxiety, and trauma. My more specific areas of interest include working with parents and people who are part of the poly community.

Narrative Therapist

"I believe that the problem is the problem and you are not the problem"

I practice with a Narrative Therapy approach. I believe that the problem is the problem and you are not the problem. I will work to open up space between you and the problem you are experiencing. Externalizing the problem creates new possibilities for interacting with the problem in a way that empowers you to have more agency in your life. I will work to help you develop a preferred storyline that is more in line with the hopes, beliefs and values that you hold dear, and work toward living life within that storyline instead of the problem-saturated story.

I have nine years of experience working with children, teens and adults who struggle with depression, anxiety, trauma, and other mental health concerns. I am particularly passionate about working with folks who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or gender non-conforming and people in the poly community.
